The flash-flooding in Texas and New Mexico had me contemplate what si going on. Is it an event influenced by climate change? Is it one as a result of geo-engineering? Geo-engineering with malicious intent? Here are some of the thoughts that came up:
We once danced with the seasons, planted by the moon, and listened for rain in the silence between wind gusts.
Now, we send planes into the sky to coax the clouds, to bend Nature to our will — forgetting that every thread we pull touches the entire web.
Geo-engineering may seem like innovation, but it arises from a deep forgetfulness.
Not of knowledge—but of relationship.
It doesn’t have to be malicious to be dangerous.
Even with good intentions, intervening in complex natural systems we barely understand is reckless.
It’s the same logic that brought us here: put on the ‘bandaid’ prescribe a pill, and ignore the root cause, the belief that we are separate from Nature.
The Earth is not a system to be managed. It is a living being we’re in kinship with.
What if the real solutions aren’t more control—but in deeper trust?
Not the kind of trust that closes its eyes, but the kind that opens its ears.
Before we cloud the sky with chemicals we think will cool the planet, what if we asked:
What is the Earth asking of us?
And what if we then listened?
Not to find something we can do to her, but how we might live with her — again.
Even in our desperation, there is arrogance.
We keep trying to fix the world without changing the story we’re living inside.
Geo-engineering is just the latest version of an old tale:
“Nature is against us! If we gain enough control, we’ll be safe.”
But real safety doesn’t come from domination.
It comes from remembering we belong to something larger than ourselves.
