The threshold in a rite of passage, the initiation or ordeal in the Hero's Journey, the Neutral Zone in William Bridges' Transitions. It's a place that is foreign to us. There are no known landmarks. We have to rely on that which is within us, our courage, our strength, our innate wisdom.
In the big picture, from a global perspective, we have quite some time to go until we reach that stage. We have just entered the first phase of Endings. And, I also sense that in some areas we are already in it. - transitions within transitions. The Pandemic was an ending and we are coming out of it - into what. There is the attempt to go back to the old normal and that does not work quite the way we were expecting it.The 'landscape' has changed: more polarity, recession, financial difficulties, ...
This is a space that can be scary - not knowing what will happen. It feels like we lost control of our lives. And it can be exciting for those who have an easier time with change. They are asking: What is possible now? Where can we go? What can we do different? They will be the ones that guide us out of this phase into the last one.
Without going through a transition, we may find ourselves in unknown territory. Often this is the case when traveling. We are not familiar with the local customs, so we adjust our behavior to fit in. Or to be seen as a good person, or any other reason. Once we get back home, we know our way around and automatically go back to our usual ways.
I noticed that there are times when I find myself in unknown territory. When I am learning I am changing as a result of taking in the new information. As a result, I say things or behave in ways that are true for me, as well as new for me and there are WOW moments or wow experiences. I notice, I would like to experience them again, while knowing it is not possible. It's like trying to touch the same water that just flowed under the bridge. LOL!
